Generations Transcend Impact (GTI) – Uganda is a mission-driven, non-profit organization based
in Northern Uganda, dedicated to empowering youth, women, and vulnerable communities to
become ethical, innovative, and responsible leaders. We promote sustainable and planet-friendly
development through leadership development, value-based education, healthcare, eco
economic empowerment, peacebuilding, and environmental stewardship.
OUR MISSION
To empower individuals and communities through leadership development, youth mentorship, value-based education, healthcare access, and eco-economic empowerment, while promoting sustainable and planet-friendly development, environmental responsibility, and social justice.
We envision a society where empowered generations work together guided by ethical leadership, innovation, and sustainability to create peaceful, healthy, and thriving communities.
OUR HISTORY
GTI–Uganda emerged from the lived realities of Northern Uganda, a region shaped by decades of violent conflict, displacement, and systemic marginalization. While the region has made progress toward stability, many communities continue to face poverty, limited access to quality education and healthcare, environmental degradation, unemployment, weak leadership structures, and fragile social cohesion.
GTI was founded by Stephen Okot, who was born and raised in a rural and remote village in Northern Uganda during the height of the conflict. Growing up amidst war and displacement, he experienced firsthand the challenges of poverty, neglect, low self-esteem, and limited opportunity. Education became a critical turning point in his life.
Through exposure to books, mentorship, and leadership studies-particularly his engagement with the International Institute for Global Leadership (IIGL)-Stephen’s worldview was transformed. The IIGL experience shaped his understanding of leadership as rooted in values, humanity, and service, and reinforced the belief that everyone has talents that can be nurtured to improve society.
After completing his three-year IIGL mentorship journey, Stephen established Generations Transcend Impact (GTI) – Uganda to encourage, equip, and support young people, women, and marginalized communities to overcome limitations, discover purpose, and actively contribute to a more just and sustainable world.
WHY WE EXIST

GTI–Uganda was established in recognition that communities particularly in Northern Uganda
continue to face interconnected social, economic, environmental, and leadership challenges that
hinder holistic development. We believe that sustainable and planet-friendly development requires ethical leadership, innovation, value-based education, and positive mindset and behavioral change.
GTI also recognizes the vital role of youth, women, and vulnerable populations as agents of transformation, peace, and social cohesion, and the importance of peaceful coexistence, conflict resolution, intergenerational dialogue, and environmental stewardship as foundations for long term development and social justice.
Guided by the principles of integrity, service, accountability, inclusiveness, and stewardship,
GTI–Uganda delivers structured, values-driven, and community-centered solutions.
